The Weeknd is making big changes to his 2022 After Hours tour. The “Blinding Lights” singer took to Twitter on Monday (Oct. 18) to explain that the After Hours tour, which was previously rescheduled three separate times due to the pandemic, will get a major update with bigger shows and added stadiums.

“The tour dates are changing and will begin in the summer of 2022,” the 31-year-old musician wrote, along with new images that showed the updated set of shows will be called the After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour. “Because of limited arenas and the need for more shows, I want to do something bigger and more special for you, which will require more stadiums.”

Tickets purchased for the original After Hours tour dates will not be accepted, the singer shared in his announcement, though previous ticket holders will have priority access to purchase tickets for the new dates. “Current tickets will be refunded automatically, and all ticket holders will have priority access to purchase tickets for stadium shows when they go on sale. New dates coming soon,” he concluded in his announcement.

The 2022 After Hours Tour was previously delayed in February, but the three-time Grammy Award winner has added dates in North America and across Europe in France, Germany, Norway, Switzerland and other countries. The new After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour will include new dates in Asia, Australia, Africa, South America and the Middle East, according to a new tour poster.

Abel Tesfaye accompanied the tour news with a video that features an excerpt from a song from his upcoming album in which Planet Earth spins and lights flicker. “You know I like it when you’re mad,” the singer hums on the audio, which then turns into a galactic instrumental by the end of the video.

The tour’s expansion – and altered title – will likely serve to include a Tesfaye album tentatively titled Dawn. On the Oct. 5 episode of his Apple Music 1 radio show Memento Mori, he shared major album updates and said that work on the project had forced him to put his weekly show on hold.

“Missed a lot, a lot of touching pieces. Settled into a new house. Filmed a video. Worked on pre-production for Another World. Worked on music for pre-production for another world. It took time. for myself, so I didn’t lose my mind completely. But now we’re back.” – he said, adding, “I hope you had a great summer. There’s some interesting stuff coming out in the fall before the album comes out. … Some Dawn updates: The album is ready. The only thing missing are a couple of key characters. to the narrative – some people I care about and are close to, some people who inspired me as a kid and some who inspire me now. There will be others in the coming months.”
